Manual Lymphatic Drainage
MLD is a specialized technique utilizing precise, light, rhythmic hand movements which gently stretch the skin along lymphatic pathways. It is used to support and enhance lymphatic function, keeping body fluid levels in balance and defending the body against infections.
MLD reduces levels of swelling and inflammation and can be helpful before/after surgery, after lymph node biopsies, and orthopedic injury. It is an integral part of lymphedema management, although you do not need to have a lymphedema diagnosis to receive MLD.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is also indicated for fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic rheumatoid arthritis, long covid, swelling, water retention, sinus congestion, constipation, reconstructive and cosmetic surgical patients, and health optimization.
Using MLD before surgery is a critical part of the healing process. It will help optimize the body’s system functions and help clear out excess tissue fluid in advance. MLD reduces the overall inflammation of the body, preparing the body for the new inflammatory response to surgery and help speed recovery.
The goal is to stimulate flow in the lymphatic vessels and increases uptake of fluid from the surrounding tissues into the lymphatic system which filters the debris filled lymph fluid and returns it back to the circulatory system for additional filtering and excretion.
This is not traditional massage and should only be preformed by certified Manual Lymphatic Drainage therapists or Certified Lymphedema Therapists. $5 of every treatment will be donated to Hospice Care Network of Long Island.

Oncology Massage
Massage therapy can be beneficial to your mind, body and spirit during cancer treatment. Cancer treatment can put the body’s central nervous system on high alert, often leaving patients stressed and anxious.
This is not traditional massage. Oncology massage is a form of non-invasive, compassionate touch. It is very specialized, using light touch and slow, steady movements, working with the central nervous system to help the body relax. Recent studies show massage therapy can be an important part of an integrative approach to care for cancer patients.
Reported physical benefits include:
- relieving pain
- better ability to tolerate cancer treatment side effects
- better sleep, easing fatigue
- fewer headaches
- reduced chemotherapy-related nausea
- reduced chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy
- less chronic pain from cancer treatment
- reduced stress and anxiety
Massage therapy is safe for cancer patients when they are seen by someone trained in oncology massage, with an understanding of lymphedema, and how to work around ports and medical devices. Medical clearance is required. $5 of every treatment will be donated to Hospice Care Network of Long Island.

Reiki
At its core, Reiki is a stress reduction and relaxation technique that supports the body’s natural ability to heal itself. During a Reiki session the practitioner places their hands lightly on or with hands held a short distance above the recipient’s fully clothed body allowing the healing energy to go where it is most needed. Reiki is restoring, balancing and uplifting. It is sometimes performed by following the chakra system which are energy centers found throughout the body. The intention is to help restore energy flow, balance, and enhance vitality.
Reiki addresses issues affecting the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels, and promotes overall wellbeing. It is complimentary therapy, not an alternative one. This is an important distinction to keep in mind. Reiki works together with traditional medical care to offer a more holistic approach. Reiki is never a replacement for proper medical care. $5 of every treatment will be donated to Hospice Care Network of Long Island.
